A hard cheese, firm to the cut but slightly flaky in the middle, Kern is buttery with caramel notes and a deep savoury aroma. A longer maturing cheese than Yarg, it develops over sixteen months within its handsome black wax coating.
Originally derived from a Gouda style cheese, we add Alpine starter cultures to give it individuality and to create a close texture, resembling Dutch and French/Swiss cheeses.
Wrap in wax paper, store below 8 degrees, serve at room temperature. Suitable for vegetarians.
