Crowned Supreme Champion at the World Cheese Awards 2017, Kern is a very special cheese indeed. A hard cheese, firm to the cut but slightly flaky in the middle, it is buttery with caramel notes and a deep savoury aroma. A longer maturing cheese than Yarg, it develops over sixteen months within its handsome black wax coating. All good things come to those who wait!
Originally derived from a Gouda style cheese, we add Alpine starter cultures to give it individuality and to create a close texture, resembling Dutch and French/Swiss cheeses.

Wrap in wax paper, store below 8 degrees, serve at room temperature.
